Alfa Romeo and Dodge just had a love child, and its the merger of a Dodge Charger, and an Alfa Giulietta! Better yet, its going into production in North America this summer to be on the dealers lots this fall!
So far from what I have seen its a baby Charger fitted to the Giulietta’s dimensions and then widened, which is a C-Wide platform.
The interior is very Charger like, with a tilted center console and 8.4inch touch screen for infotainment, and heavily bolstered seats to keep you in place for spirited driving, provided the engines are powerful enough.
This R/T model displays some nice dual exhausts, but all models are made of extremely high strength steel… Engines are rumoured at a Fiat 1.4L turbo, and dodges 2.0L and 2.4L ‘Tigershark’ engines. All that I have read puts the 2.0L at the bottom of this chain in terms of performance, and the 2.4L at the top. All are DOHC, direct inject 4’s, all staying between 150-200hp.
Honestly I think with these specs and its interior design of such high quality it has already has the Cruze beat. To beat the Focus it would need a well priced ‘sports’ model like the R/T or perhaps Rallye models, since the Focus is running a dry DSG (however not as well tuned as the VW wet DSG, which shift amazingly precise).
If this is priced where the Caliber is now it should do well. If its priced the way the Avenger is, it wont stand a chance.
Cheers
